Keil is an electrical engineer with nearly 20 years of industry experience, spanning the globe in sectors including metals, mining, water, and transportation. In recent years he has moved on to electric utility and renewable energy projects in Hawai’i and the Pacific region. The common thread, throughout, has been the central role of energy in human progress.

Having seen the inner workings of the global supply chain, working around the world in communities rich and poor, Keil believes strongly in two things: first, energy abundance is a necessity for human flourishing, and second, we must find sustainable ways to provide it, taking responsibility for the lifecycle costs of our needs and desires, even when the consequences are only felt in faraway places.

Keil is a co-lead of the Geothermal Rising Regional Interest Group for Hawai’i.
